The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and pervasive mobile connectivity has fundamentally reshaped global higher education landscapes. Traditional face-to-face instruction and brick-and-mortar delivery systems are increasingly being augmented or replaced by technology-enhanced, student-centric learning paradigms. This paper critically investigates the structural transformation of modern higher education, focusing on digital learning paradigms, pedagogical methodologies, and institutional adaptability within the context of Malaysian higher education institutions (HEIs). Employing a mixed-methods synthesis and multi-case comparative analytical framework across top public and private Malaysian universities, this study explores the efficacy of blended learning, micro-credentials, AI-driven adaptive learning systems, and hybrid assessment strategies. The findings highlight significant institutional opportunities in democratizing access to quality education and expanding lifelong learning avenues. However, critical barriers persist, including the digital divide, faculty resistance to technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) integration, algorithmic bias, and student engagement fatigue. Grounded in Constructivist Learning Theory and Davis’s Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study formulates a strategic blueprint for university administrators, curriculum developers, and policymakers to foster resilient, inclusive, and future-ready tertiary education ecosystems.
