This study aims to measure the effect of digitalization, proxied by mobile cellular subscriptions, on food availability in Jordan, measured by dietary energy supply, over the period 2001 to 2024. To this end, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model is employed, with agriculture value added and food imports included as control variables. After verifying the stationarity properties of the series, the bounds test indicates a cointegrating relationship among the variables. The long run results show a positive effect of digitalization and agriculture value added on dietary energy supply, while food imports have no significant effect. In the short run, the effect of digitalization strengthens gradually across lags, and the error correction term is negative and significant, implying that the Jordanian economy returns to its equilibrium path within a relatively short period after a deviation. The model passes the diagnostic tests for serial correlation, heteroskedasticity, normality, and functional form. The study recommends expanding digital infrastructure in agricultural areas, developing digital services that provide farmers with information, and strengthening domestic agricultural production.
