This article aims to highlight the importance of the Memoirs of Hajj Ahmad al-Sharif al-Zahhar and their contribution to writing and documenting the history of Algerian-Spanish relations in the late Ottoman period. As one of the most prominent local historical testimonies, the memoirs recorded major transformations in Algerian-Spanish relations in their political, military, and diplomatic dimensions. They therefore contribute to presenting a more balanced and objective account, distinct from the foreign perspectives that were contemporary with these events in the region.
